Taken from MasArteMasAccion:
"Artist Libia Posada continued her extensive research exploring the relationship between the body, geography, and territory at Base Chocó and the Coquí community, as an opportunity to combine her knowledge as a physician with her talent as a visual artist.
Her work with some of the most remote communities in Colombia served as a foundation for developing topics related to MaMa's interests, such as food, sustainability, nutrition, and health, with the goal of recording and recovering knowledge about life in a region where people have little access to modern medicine.
“What interests me is investigating the survival and sustainability of these communities in Chocó. There is a wealth of knowledge and richness within ancient practices that have been marginalized by the modern world. Recovering this wealth can have many benefits for modern science and the rest of humanity. I will explore this with the people who traditionally hold this knowledge, including leaders, the community shaman, healers, herbalists, and women in their domestic settings.”
Salt and Earth Herbs or Studies for Dystopian Cartography is a standalone book that complements the book Nowhere.
